Meet Trevor Outman, Founder of TKO Capital

Trevor Outman is the Founder of Shipware, an award-winning business focused on helping organizations reduce shipping costs without disrupting their operations, and Chairman and Co-Founder of Active Insights, an AI technology company on a mission to protect people and combat human trafficking.

After proudly serving in the military and obtaining his MBA, Trevor founded Shipware. Bootstrapping the company’s growth, he navigated the company from a garage-based startup to a 9-figure exit. As Shipware CEO, Trevor built a thriving organization that experienced phenomenal year-over-year employee and revenue growth. His leadership landed Shipware on the Inc. 5000 and San Diego Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Companies lists multiple years in a row while also being honored as one of America’s and San Diego’s Best Places to Work by Inc. and the SDBJ, respectively.

Trevor built a culture within Shipware that reflects values such as transparency, continuous improvement, grit over quit, extreme ownership, and a genuine desire to improve the well-being of fellow teammates, paving the way for him to become San Diego Business Journal’s CEO of the Year. After its acquisition in 2021, Trevor continued his servant leadership role as Shipware’s CEO while also serving as the President of the larger platform to focus on M&A. At the start of 2023, he implemented a strong succession plan, enabling him to step into an advisory and active board member role at Shipware.

Since his exit from Shipware, Trevor founded TKO Capital with a mission to invest in viable businesses that will deliver both a financial and social impact. TKO Capital invests more than just capital; it offers experienced, hands-on, dedicated time to help entrepreneurs and C-suite scale their businesses to the next level. Recognized and respected for his strategic leadership, unwavering commitment to building high-performing teams, and ability to pair unique solutions with marketplace trends, Trevor is leveraging his experience to build brands with impactful mission statements.

Giving back to the community, both locally and abroad, is a cornerstone for Trevor. He serves on the board of charities such as Make-A-Wish, TerraMica, and PropelPotential – all of which are on a mission to deliver a transformational impact.

Trevor and his wife have been married for 16 years and have a 14-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son. The Outman family loves adventure and traveling to embrace new experiences and expand their worldviews by learning about other cultures. On weekends, you’ll find Trevor on the soccer field sidelines or coaching Little League. In his spare time, Trevor trains for long-distance triathlons and Ironman competitions and has recently qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Kona.
